Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda Softworks have launched the newest expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset. Summerset is available now on PC and Mac (Steam). Console players will have to wait another two weeks, when Summerset launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 5.
For the first time since 1994’s The Elder Scrolls: Arena, fans will be able to explore the idyllic homelands of the elvish island. Summerset Isle features a new story line investigating an ancient evil as you aid Queen Ayrenn of the Aldermi Dominion.
The expansion, which ESO refers to as Chapters, also includes a new 12-player Trial in Cloudrest, the Psijic Order skill line, and the new ability to craft your own rings and necklaces throughout Summerset and the rest of Tamriel.
To reach the new isle, you’ll have to first purchase the Chapter. Then you can use the Shimmerene Wayshrine, as well as simply starting the main quest from the Stories menu. New characters can also be created and placed directly in the city of Shimmerene.
The Elder Scrolls Online had a rough launch back in 2014, but over the years has successfully evolved into one of the better MMO games on the market. The Morrowind expansion was very well received when it released last summer. ESO has an optional subscription plan as well as optional loot boxes and real-money purchasable items. The most common way to pay for the game is by simply buying these new Chapters.
The Queen’s Bounty pre-order bonus pack is still available through June 5. It includes a unique costume, a salamander pet, a loot crate, and some treasure maps. As an additional bonus, The previous expansion, Morrowind, is included with a digital pre-order of Summerset until June 12.
The Elder Scrolls Online is rated M for Mature. Summerset is available now on PC; on June 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
