Indie 2D platformer Light Fall is coming later this month, and Canadian studio Bishop Games have released a new story trailer. The trailer introduces the crystalline, shadowy world of Numbra, narrated by the friendly owl ally Stryx.
A silhouetted young boy is on a quest to rescue his friend, who has disappeared within the darkness that now envelops their world. Aside from Stryx’s snarky commentary, our hero is aided by the Shadow Core, a cube that he can summon and move around to aid in traversing the dangerous world. The Shadow Core can be summoned in mid-air to reach new heights, or used to block hazards and traps.
I had a chance to play Light Fall earlier this year at PAX South. It made my list of 20 indie games to look for in 2018.
Bishop Games originally launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Light Fall back in 2015. The campaign successfully raised over $15,000.
Light Fall will emerge later this month on PC and Mac, via Steam. An update last fall states that it’s also coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March, but there’s no mention of consoles with this latest announcement. Light Fall has not been rated by the ESRB.
