Today CD Projekt Red released Patch 1.6 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, officially adding support for the Xbox One X.

The upgrade patch adds 4K resolution (or supersampled on non-4K TVs) with 30 frames per second as well as dynamic resolution scaling that aims for 60 frames per second. Both modes feature HDR, higher resolution textures, and advanced lighting and shading. You can switch between the two new display modes in the Options menu.

The Witcher 3 received a similar upgrade patch for PlayStation Pro earlier this year in October. That patch also added 4K support and enhanced lighting and performance.

Open world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt initially came out in 2015 as one of the biggest, most well-reviewed games of the year. Since launch it’s received two major expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is currently on sale on GOG for $19.99 (60% off) as part of their Winter Sale. It includes both expansions. The GOG Winter Sale ends December 26.

Xbox One X launched in November as a backwards-compatible upgrade to the Xbox One. It’s billed as the most powerful console ever made. Currently it’s being bundled with the extremely popular online shooter, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

In Witcher 3 adjacent news, Gwent is currently celebrating a holiday event called Midwinter Hunt. Midwinter Hunt adds 100 new cards to the Witcher spin-off digital card game. It also adds the single player Midwinter Hunt mode and a daily quest system. Gwent is free to play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt upgrade patch is now available for Xbox One X. The RPG is also available on PlayStation 4 and PC. It’s rated M for Mature.
