A new, updated version of 2016’s Street Fighter V is coming early next year. The Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will include several new gameplay modes and features, as well as all the post-launch DLC characters. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will arrive January 16, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC for $39.99.
If you already own the original version of Street Fighter V, you’ll receive all but the DLC characters as a free update. DLC fighters can be purchased individually in game through earned Fight Money or purchased with in-game currency.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition includes the following features:
- Arcade Mode
- Extra Battle Mode
- 1 New V-trigger move for each fighter
- Art Gallery
- New User Interface
- Six Season 1 DLC Characters: Alex, Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri, Urien
- Six Season 2 DLC Characters: Akuma, Kolin, Ed, Abigail, Menat, (unannounced)
The new Arcade Mode will celebrate the franchise’s 30 year history with a classic gameplay mode. Six different paths against CPU opponents will reveal different endings based on your performance.
You can use earned Fight Money in Extra Battle Mode. Extra Battle Mode will include four new timed challenges each month. Complete all four to earn an exclusive costume. Street Fighter V will also feature extra challenges and unannounced content throughout 2018 and beyond.
The new Arcade Edition will not split the player pool. It will have full cross-platform and cross-version play with players of the original Street Fighter V on both PS4 and PC. Capcom promises that the original release of Street Fighter V will continue to be updated and supported.
The final Season 2 DLC character should be announced and released by the end of this year, along with additional costumes.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is out January 16, 2018. It’s rated T for Teen for Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence.
