Developer Airship Syndicate along with publisher THQ Nordic have released Battle Chasers: Nightwar. It’s available on PC (Windows and Mac), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version coming soon. It’s available digitally and physically for $29.99.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG styled after classic 90s-era RPGs. The world and art are based on the short-lived but popular Battle Chasers comics of the late 90s/early 2000s. The RPG features turn-based combat, randomly generated dungeons full of traps, monsters, and loot, and six heroes to level up.
Nightwar began life as a Kickstarter project two years ago. A new indie studio, Airship Syndicate, was formed from the remains of Vigil Games, best known for the Darksiders games. The studio was co-founded by the original Battle Chasers comic artist Joe Madureira.
The Kickstater campaign successfully earned over $800,000 from over 14,000 backers.
The Nintendo Switch version was revealed earlier this year during the April Nintendo Direct. There was a spiffy trailer. A delay was announced a few months ago, with no date given.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s rated T for Teen and includes Alcohol, Blood, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Suggestive Themes.
