Microsoft has announced that the new, slimmer version of the Xbox One will be available on August 2. Specifically, the 2TB version of the Xbox One S will be available on that date. Different hard drive options are on the way, but no release date was given for those.The Xbox One S was revealed during Microsoft’s annual E3 media briefing. The new system is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One and contains an internal power supply and some of other physical changes. The August release date means the console will be the first on the market to allow for 4K and HDR streaming video. Sony’s new version of the PlayStation 4 will include that technology, but no release date has been revealed for that system. It will be interesting when Sony does plan to release that PlayStation 4,

The Xbox One S that’s coming in August will cost $399. The 1TB and 500G models will be coming later in the year and will cost $349 and $299 respectively.

Besides the Xbox One S, Microsoft also revealed Project Scorpio, a new console that will be the “most powerful” console ever made and will be released in the holiday season of 2017.
