A Surprise Win at the BAFTA Game Awards
The BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Game Awards were this Thursday, with Destiny taking the title of best game. It was a move that surprised many, since the game didn’t win any other awards it was nominated for; it was also not as critically acclaimed as some of the other nominees. Minecraft won the award for best family game.
Octodad on More Platforms
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is coming to Xbox One and Wii U this summer. The game is a big fan favorite, with players acting as the octopus dad who has to keep his family from finding out his true mollusk nature. PlayStation Mobile Coming to an End
PlayStation Mobile will stop producing and distributing content in September 2015. PlayStation Mobile was Sony’s attempt to work with Android to bring its content to more devices, but few mobile devices ever supported the effort.
Blizzard Adds More Diversity to Overwatch
A new Overwatch character named Zarya was announced by Blizzard this week—and she looks pretty cool. Games featuring female characters who aren’t svelte are pretty rare, so it’s exciting to see Blizzard stepping up to plate. Overwatch is a team-based fantasy sci-fi shooter where players can choose from a number of different characters, each with their own special skills and abilities. The game is still in beta.
February Was a Good Month for the 3DS
Nintendo’s 3DS outsold both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in February 2015. It’s unusual for a handheld device to do so well, but the with the new and updated version of the 3DS coming out, and the latter two consoles seeing a dip after the holiday season, it makes sense that people are flocking to Nintendo’s handheld.
