It’s time for another genre-themed Steam sale — the Steam Automation Fest! Not to be confused with the Steam Automaton Fest, though both probably feature robots.

The Steam Automation Fest is all about those obsessive factory-building sims, where players create an efficient chain of production and manufacturing.

The genre is still dominated by two games: Satisfactory and Factorio. The original top-down base-builder Factorio famously never goes on sale, but Satisfactory is currently 30% off. Satisfactory is a first-person, open-world crafting-building game where players construct sprawling factories and conveyor belts. It also supports co-op multiplayer.

Note that according to SteamDB, Satisfactory was actually 50% off during last year’s Steam Summer Sale.

The Steam Automation Fest also highlights several brand new releases in the genre, which I hope is a trend going forward during these themed sales.

MoteMancer turns the typically sci-fi genre on its head by introducing a fantasy world of alchemical ingredients and magical gardens.

Kaizen: A Factory Story offers a different and highly technical twist, as players construct electronics using puzzle automation in 1980s Japan.

Dawn Apart (Early Access) combines automation with a sci-fi colony sim. Players must also defend their little factory from invading forces.

The new releases are only 10% off, but these are new games after all!

Other notable (and discounted) factory games include Captain of Industry, Foundry (Early Access), and Plan B: Terraform.

Steam users can claim a free avatar frame, avatar, and sticker by visiting the store page.

The Steam Automation Sale ends July 21.
