Game development program, Action Game Maker, is launching on Steam PC on June 16 ($99). A free demo is available now as part of Steam Next Fest. The demo features all the content from the game, but only until June 19.
From Gotcha Gotcha Games, the designers of the popular RPG Maker series, Action Game Maker is a game development toolkit that allows anyone to create 2D action games. “Action game” could mean a variety of genres and styles, including metroidvania, side-scrolling shooter, top-down adventures, or atmospheric horror.
The game dev program uses the open source Godot Engine 4.3, and expands on the visual scripting system from Pixel Game Maker MV, making it easy to script commands without advanced programming skills.
As with other Game Maker games, sample assets, including character art, music, and sound effects, are included. Developers can also import their own assets, including high resolution images.
“Action Game Maker is the most powerful ‘Maker’ title yet, while staying true to the series’ no-coding-required formula,” said Yusuke Morino, Producer, Gotcha Gotcha Games. “It has been very fulfilling to see the amazing creations come out of the different entries into the ‘Maker’ series, so we are eager to see what kinds of action games everyone will create with Action Game Maker come June 16.”
Action Game Maker will launch on Steam on June 16. The demo is available now through June 19.
