All of gaming’s many achievements have led to this: Dinoblade, an action-RPG where you play as a young Spinosaurus that uses a Great Sword and battles other weapon-wielding dinosaurs.
You’re either completely sold on this concept, or you need to go back and re-read that last sentence.
Dinoblade began life as a portfolio project from game animator Jean Nguyen. The video (and the concept) went viral, prompting Nguyen to develop the idea into a full-fledged video game with his indie company, Team Spino LLC.
Judging by the trailer, Dinoblade is heavily inspired by souls-like combat, such as Elden Ring or Black Myth Wukong. Gameplay features dodges, rolls, and parries in challenging battles that demand practice and precision. Like any good swordsdino, you’ll unlock new skills and abilities as you defeat enemies.
Dinoblade closed out this year’s Six One Indie Showcase, which featured nearly 50 new and upcoming indie games. Six One Indie also recently announced a new indie-focused publishing label, with Six One Publishing.
A release date for Dinoblade has not yet been revealed, but the Steam page already has over 10,000 followers. I’m not great at math but I know dinosaurs + big swords = awesome. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer.
