The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company have announced a new partnership to create official LEGO Pokemon sets. The first sets in the multi-year partnership will arrive in 2026.
The announcement comes with only a very brief teaser of Pikachu’s iconic lighting bolt-shaped tail in brick form. With the release so far away, don’t expect to hear any news about individual sets until later this year.
“The LEGO Group and Pokémon have strong shared values of imagination, creativity and fun, making this the perfect partnership to deliver unique, meaningful and engaging ways for Trainers to experience the Pokémon brand,” said Gaku Susai, Chef Product and Experience Officer, The Pokémon Company. “Working with the best-in-class team at the LEGO Group and seeing their dedication and passion for the project has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans. We cannot wait to see both LEGO fans and the Pokémon community’s reactions in 2026.”
The LEGO Group has previously collaborated with Nintendo to create several interactive Mario playsets. Last year we also received the first LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda.
Though you may have seen LEGO Pokémon sets before, they were actually from that other brick-building brand, MEGA. LEGO has never officially produced a Pokémon set, or collaborated with the Pokémon Company, until now.
Crazy that it’s taken this long, but better late than never!
Hopefully this eventually leads to what we all really want: a fantastic LEGO Pokémon video game series!
