This year’s marks the 10th anniversary of acclaimed strategy-stealth-survival game This War of Mine. But instead of celebrating, the Polish developers at 11 bit studios are releasing another DLC expansion with all proceeds supporting charity, along with a passionate message:
The new playable content is titled “Forget Celebrations.” Innocent lives are still being lost on battlefields, new conflicts are erupting, arms production escalates to feed war’s demand, and civilians and soldiers continue to face unimaginable brutality. With the world bleeding, we believe it is vital to keep pushing for change.
Forget Celebrations stars Katia, a journalist and writer in the fictional war-torn country of Pogoren. When her home is destroyed, she’s forced into a fight for survival.
All proceeds from the DLC will go to War Child, Amnesty International, Liberty Ukraine Foundation, and Indie Games Poland.
This War of Mine is a strategy game where players control bystander survivors within a war-torn country. The survivors must fortify their shelter, scavenge for food and supplies, and stay warm, while keeping their morale up and making difficult choices as the hours and days tick by.
The realistic and serious treatment of war has earned the game a place in museums, and recognition from Amnesty International. It’s also the first video game recognized by Poland’s Ministry of Education, with a free version available for students and teachers.
The developer has previously supported charity drives with sales of the game and specific charity DLC, including when Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2022.
This War of Mine charity DLC is releasing soon. This War of Mine is available on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, and rated M for Mature.
