Frontier Developments has released management sim Planet Coaster 2 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S ($49.99).

Planet Coaster 2 is the sequel to 2016’s excellent Planet Coaster, which was a spiritual successor to the beloved RollerCoaster Tycoon series.

The sequel introduces water parks to the series, including water elements to rollercoasters and flat rides, as well as pools and water slides.

Players can build their dream theme parks from the ground up, using piece-by-piece construction, or via established blueprints. The new event sequencer provides greater control over staged effects and themed rides, including water jets and animatronics.

Park managers will also contend with changing weather patterns, which greatly affects water rides. And take advantage of expanded staffing tools and new heat maps to provide proper coverage for maintenance and cleaning throughout the park.

Career Mode offers pre-built parks with specific objectives that help teach the ins and outs of running a theme park, while Sandbox Mode features a blank slate without restrictions. The new Franchise Mode uses online multiplayer to compete with other players through leaderboards, and visit each other’s parks. Multiple players can even work on the same park together (one player at a time).

Planet Coaster 2 is also available in a Deluxe Edition ($64.99). The Deluxe Edition includes the Vintage Funfair Ride Pack, which includes 10 classic rides. The DLC is also available separately for $18.99.

Planet Coaster 2 is rated E for Everyone.
