While we’re not-so-patiently awaiting Nintendo’s new console reveal, Sony has officially announced the PlayStation 5 Pro. The upgraded PS5 will launch on November 7, for $699.99.

The PlayStation 5 Pro includes a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of Astro’s Playroom (c’mon, no Astro Bot?). Vertical stand and disc drive not included.

That’s a hefty price tag for a console that doesn’t even include a physical disc drive. It’s also super unnecessary for all but the most discerning of hardcore gamers.

The goal with the PlayStation 5 Pro is to eliminate the choice between Fidelity and Performance mode, as most users will always choose 60 frames per second over prettier graphics.

The PS5 Pro is capable of running at 60 frames per second with superior graphics, thanks to an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling for improved resolution.

Watch PlayStation architect Mark Cerny talk about the full specs in this PS5 Technical Presentation.

Certain games will launch with a PS5 PRo Enhanced label, which support the new graphical upgrades in the PS5 Pro. Announced games include Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 6 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is about the same size and look as the PlayStation 5, and supports all PS5 accessories, such as VR2 and the DualSense controller.

The PS5 Pro will launch on November 7. Pre-orders will begin on September 26.
