Kerbal Space Program 2 received its biggest content update yet in Early Access. The For Science! update (v0.2) adds the all new Exploration Mode, which is a sort-of progression-based campaign mode for the space-faring sim.

In Exploration Mode, you’ll earn Science (with a capital “S”) from exploring unique locations (which your each by constructing rockets, spaceships, and rovers).

In the new Research and Development Center, you’ll use earned Science to unlock new technologies and advancements along a Tech Tree, allowing you to install more powerful parts and explore further away from the Kerbal home planet.

The new Mission Tracker app keeps track of objectives, completed missions, and potential areas filled with that sweet, sweet science.

Other updates include an enhanced joint system (for less wobbliness), updated ambient sounds, and an all-new boat dock with improved buoyancy. See this forum post for the full patch notes.

Since a rough launch on Steam Early Access earlier this year, Kerbal Space Program 2 has received Mixed reviews on Steam. Hopefully this update is a big step in the right direction.

To celebrate the significant update, Kerbal Space Program 2 is currently 20% off on Steam until January 4, 2024. The sim sequel is also in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Kerbal Space Program is rated E for Everyone.
