The official Avatar open world video game from Ubisoft has been in development for many years, not unlike the many Avatar sequels! And perhaps like Way of Water, it’s going to be worth the wait when it releases December 7, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

During this year’s Ubisoft Forward 2023 showcase, developer Massive Entertainment finally revealed the first gameplay trailer, and cinematic trailer, for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person, open-world adventure set on Pandora, after the events of the first Avatar film.

You play as a customizable Na’Vi. Abducted and trained by the human RDA, you awake 15 years after cryosleep to an abandoned facility, and the wide world of Pandora. The RDA has returned, and you must learn to navigate in the lush alien world while dealing with the ongoing war.

Frontiers of Pandora is designed alongside James Cameron’s production company to create an authentic world, and explore new areas of Pandora not yet seen in the films, such as the Western Frontier.

During the story you’ll be given a chance to bond with your own banshee, a flying mount, to soar the skies of Pandora, while utilizing your powerful strength and agility to traverse the land.

The entire story campaign can be played single-player or online in two player co-op.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is out December 7.
