Popular gaming charity organizer Games Done Quick will be hosting a special online-only speedrunning event to help provide relief to those impacted by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Corona Relief Done Quick (CRDQ) will stream via the official Games Done Quick Twitch channel during the weekend of April 17-19.

The game list and scheduel wil be released on April 13. Submissions are open now through April 2.

One hundred percent of the donations made during the CRDQ will go to Direct Relief. Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization that helps people affected by poverty or emergencies. Their coronavirus responses include delivering personal protective equipment and other medical items to health workers.

Now the bad news. Due to the pandemic, Games Done Quick is postponing its next scheduled speedrunning event, Summer Games Done Quick. It was originally scheduled in June, but now SGDQ 2020 will take place August 16-23 in Bloomington, MN. The associated charity will be Doctors Without Borders.

Interested parties can register beginning June 7. Registration closes July 20. Previous game submissions will be wiped on April 26, and submissions will re-open April 29 – May 9. Volunteer applications will also be removed, and can be resubmitted beginning April 29.

Games Done Quick, like every company and organization, is monitoring the outbreak and watching updates from the World Health Organization and local governments to determine if another reschedule will be necessary.
