Earlier this year Sega announced the Sega Genesis Mini, a miniature replica of their classic early 90s console. The retro console would include two controllers, a digital library of 40 games, and a price tag of $79.99.

When it was first announced, Sega revealed the first 10 games, teasing out the rest in the months to come. Today with the final reveal, Sega has revealed all 40, no wait, 42 games packaged with the console.

Below is the full list of games. I’ve taken the liberty of bolding the revealed games (final three sections) that we correctly predicted in Sega Genesis Mini wishlist. We had a 50% success rate. Considering the lofty hopes we had involving sports and licensed games, that’s not too shabby.

  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Castlevania Bloodlines
  • Space Harrier 2
  • Shining Force
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Toejam & Earl
  • Comix Zone
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Altered Beast
  • Gunstar Heroes

  • Castle of Illusion
  • World of Illusion
  • Thunder Force 3
  • Super Fantasy Zone
  • Shinobi 3
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Contra Hard Corps
  • Landstalker

  • Beyond Oasis
  • Ghouls ‘N Ghosts
  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
  • Golden Axe
  • Phantasy Star IV
  • Street Fighter 2: Special Championship Edition
  • Mega Man: The Wily Wars
  • Sonic Spinball
  • Vectorman
  • Wonder Boy in Monster World

  • Tetris
  • Darius
  • Road Rash 2
  • Strider
  • Virtua Fighter 2
  • Alisia Dragoon
  • Columns
  • Dynamite Headdy
  • Kid Chameleon
  • Monster World 4
  • Light Crusader
  • Eternal Champions

Compared to the recently released 50-game Sega Genesis Classics compilation for the Nintendo Switch, this library falls a bit short. The only real advantage being the Wonder Boy/Monster World games that aren’t included in the Switch release. Otherwise the Switch compilation feels far more complete, with all the Streets of Rages, Phantasy Stars, and the excellent sequels for Toejam & Earl and Shining Force.

If you don’t have a Switch (or a PC) and yearn to have a mini replica and the old 3-button controller, the Sega Genesis Mini will be available on September 19.
