Hideo Kojima’s post-Konami, post-Metal Gear Solid project Death Stranding remains as enigmatic as ever, despite seeing a bit of gameplay during the PlayStation E3 2018 press conference.

This new fourth trailer focuses on the protagonist, Sam, motion captured by Norma Reedus. Sam is some sort of baby-delivery man as he carries a developing fetus in a small jar-like device strapped to his chest. He has to avoid shadowy creatures as well as invisible monsters who leave behind hand-like footprints as they walk.

The trailer also introduced two new characters to join the cast of Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelson, and Guillermo del Toro. The newly revealed heroines are French actress Léa Seydoux and American Lindsay Wagner. Wagner has been digitally de-aged to match her look from her popular films and series in the 1970s.

“I want to deliver something for people around the world that transcends generations,” writes Kojima on the PlayStation blog. “I want all people to experience the entertainment medium of games, not only gamers, but fans of film, novels, comics, music and art. With the help of the bond (strand) we have with these four cast members (and those who we have yet to reveal), I believe that we will make this a reality.”

We still don’t have a release date for Death Stranding. It was initially announced at E3 2016. It’s being published by Sony and will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
