Psychonauts is back for the first time in 10 years as fans gear up for the much anticipated Psychonauts 2. On February 21, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin will be launching on PlayStation VR. The game has been specifically created for the virtual reality platform and is meant to connect the original Psychonauts with its upcoming sequel.

The game’s protagonist is Raz, a young psychic who has joined up with the crime-fighting Psychonauts. Raz is the star of the original game, and Rhombus of Ruin picks up right where the first Psychonauts ends. The Grand Head of the Psychonauts, Truman Zannotto, has been kidnapped, and Raz sets off with his friends and fellow agents to rescue him. Their journey brings the Psychonauts to the titular Rhombus of Ruin, a mysterious section of the ocean that takes inspiration from the Bermuda Triangle. Once there, the party is captured and Raz is left with only the power of his own psychic abilities to find his friends and save Truman Zannotto before the Rhombus claims their sanity.

As a VR game, Rhombus of Ruin is played in first-person from Raz’s perspective. Despite the game’s ties to its predecessor, the developers have assured newcomers that they’ll be able to have just as much fun as a die-hard fan. However, anyone interested in checking out the series from the beginning can purchase the original Psychonauts for PS4 here.
