The Asian website for PlayStation has posted some new details about the PlayStation VR. One of these is the amount of space you’ll need to clear in order to play it properly. The magic number? About 60 square feet.

The information is part of a PlayStation VR user guide that been made into a hard copy brochure. Specifically, the guide recommends that you clear an area more than 9 feet back from the camera and about 6 feet wide. For reference the distance from the camera is slightly larger than that required by the Kinect, which suggested 8 feet back from the camera. As with Kinect, these guidelines can probably be reduced a bit, but still allow for play.

The guide offers some other information besides the suggested play area. You can wear glasses while playing. There are a number of modes that enable other people without headsets to play along with the person who’s wearing one. It’s also suggested that no one under the age of 12 use the headset. And as you might imagine, everyone is encouraged to the give the technology a go before purchasing it.
