Today Sony proudly announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has become the fastest-selling Playstation 4 title to-date. The first party title sold over 2.7 million copies in just one week. That number includes both Blu-ray disc and digital sales worldwide.

“A huge congratulations goes out to Naughty Dog for an incredible feat,” posted Sony Marketing Manager Asad Qizibash. “The success of the game is a testament to the caliber of the team and their unwavering commitment to their fans. Naughty Dog has constructed an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling, and beautifully written culmination to Nathan Drake’s adventures.”

Pixelkin’s Nicole reviewed Uncharted 4 and gave it a big thumbs up. “It’s got everything I love about games wrapped up in one beautiful experience.”

The Uncharted series began life on the Playstation 3 in 2007. The AAA action-adventure series has enjoyed multi-million dollar sales and critical acclaim ever since.

Sony developer Naughty Dog had taken a break from Uncharted to make The Last of Us. Like Uncharted, The Last of Us followed a character-driven story with high production values. It was released on PS3 in 2013, breaking sales number records. It received a PS4 remastered edition in 2014.

With success, sequels often follow. It will be interesting if Uncharted 4 is indeed the final tale of Nathan Drake. Many considered Uncharted 3 a fitting end to the series at the time. A remastered collection of the first three Uncharted games was released on Playstation 4 last year, titled Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

A film adaptation of Uncharted is scheduled to to be released in Summer of 2017, but casting and director have yet to be announced.
