A big free update for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be coming this summer. The update, which is titled Trouble in Zombopolis: Part One, (these Plants vs. Zombies games’ names keep getting longer) will include a new map, two new zombie types and lots of new customization items.
Zombopolis is “biggest zombie city we’ve ever created,” said Justin Wiebe, creative director in the official announcement. In the city, the zombies are plotting to build a huge Mega Zombot. It will be interesting to see how this factors into the gameplay. The Seeds of Time map has zombies infiltrating a castle to lower a drawbridge and then use the “bootering ram” (yes, it’s a battering ram with a big boot on the end) to break through the gates. The first Garden Warfare had similar gameplay tactics, one of which required the zombies to roll a big golf ball through the course and into the hole.
Besides the new map, the update will include two new characters – Toxic Citron and Breakfast Brainz. The latter is a version of the Super Brainz superhero that wears a cape made of bacon. Wiebe also said the update will include more than 1,200 new customization items. That’s a lot of accessories.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 was released earlier this year and already has had one update. The exact date of Trouble in Zombopolis: Part One wasn’t announced, but PopCap says it will be coming sometime this summer.
