Players have been waiting for the next expansion to the popular card game Hearthstone. First announced at the beginning of February, the expansion will bring some big changes to the game including a new game mode. Now we’ve got some more details on the expansion, which is titled Whispers of the Old Gods.
The story behind the expansion is that all of that noisy Hearthstone playing in the tavern has awoken some pretty nasty characters. But the story isn’t really important in the game at all. What is important are some of the details that have just been revealed. Whispers of the Old Gods will bring with it 134 new cards including four new legendary cards.
Blizzard has revealed the specifics of one of the legendary cards: C’Thun. C’Thun will cost 10 mana and has six attack and six health. What makes him special is that his battlecry deals damage equal to his attack randomly split among all enemies. This guarantees you to do six damage, with the chance to do much more depending on how long he stays on the board.
The real advantage to C’Thun comes from two supporting cards that can boost his attack and health in your hand or in your deck. Beckoner of Evil adds 2/2 and Twilight Elder adds 1/1. These cards cost two and three mana respectively.
We still don’t have an exact release date for the expansion. Blizzard says it will be coming in late April or early May. You can already pre-order a 50-pack bundle that comes with a pretty cool-looking card back for $49.99. As always, you don’t have to spend any real cash to get card packs; you can also buy them for 100 gold a piece. You might want to start saving up that gold.
