Mighty No. 9 is a highly anticipated game that’s been said to be spiritual successor to Mega Man. But people will need to wait a little longer for the game to arrive. The game is now scheduled for a spring release.
Mighty No. 9 is developed by Keiji Inafune who was also the developer behind the Mega Man series.
The game is intended to be a spiritual successor to the Mega Man series (also created by Inafune) and was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign. It’s a 2D side-scroller in which you play as Beck, a robot whose companions have all been taken over by a computer virus. Beck must defeat the other robots, stealing weapons from his enemies as he progresses. His body reconfigures into new weapons and tools.
“The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking,” Inafune wrote.
“We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release.”
The game was originally planned for an April 2015 release. After bursting through over a dozen stretch goals in its crowdfunding campaign, the game confirmed it would be getting releases on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo 3DS. This huge number of platforms has contributed to the game’s delays.
“For this 3rd delay of the game, we have no excuses for disappointing our fans and especially our backers once more,” Inafune said, “We want to take this chance to express our sincerest apologies to everyone who has looked forward to the release.”
