Voice actor Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, says that fans would find it difficult to accept the character if he were played by a different actor—or even if he were played by North himself. North spoke with GamesNewsOfficial on the subject. Based on his interactions with fans, it’s just not something they’re looking for.

“I think the emotional investment people have with Nathan Drake is so high that it would be very difficult for them to accept somebody else—even me, with my face as Nathan Drake,” said North. “They might recognize the voice, but I don’t even know if they’d accept me.”

North also noted that financially, video game films tend not to do so well, citing Hitman as an example. Resident Evil was notable for its relative success, but that movie was a different genre. “Maybe it’s because it’s such a cinematic experience in itself, but I don’t know if it’s financially feasible to make this film anymore,” he said.

Director Seth Gordon recently departed from the Uncharted film project due to Sony’s decision to take the film in a new direction.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be available March 18, 2016, for PlayStation only. Meanwhile, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection was released October 7.
