Today at the Electronic Arts press conference, Swedish game maker Martin Sahlin came onstage and nervously presented Unravel, a puzzle-platformer certain to pluck at your heartstrings. The game stars Yarny, a small red creature made entirely of yarn. As he moves through realistic outdoor environments, he leaves behind a long strand of yarn.

“The yarn represents love and the bonds that we make,” Sahlin explained, “and it unravels because that’s what happens when we’re separated from what we love.”

Yarny will use his trailing yarn to swing across chasms, ride on the backs of fish, dangle from kites, and more. The game was inspired by camping trips through Sahlin’s home in northern Scandinavia. It’s the sixth game from Coldwood Interactive, a 14-person studio located in Umeå, Sweden.

We’ll definitely be following along with this adorable game as more news unfolds. It will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
