The latest major patch to Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will hit tomorrow, May 10. The Spring 2018 Update will bring lots of balance changes, AI tweaks, and a few new features to the turn-based strategy game. Watch Civilization VI: Rise and Fall lead designer Anton Strenger showcase these changes in the above video.

The Spring 2018 Update makes Joint Wars a bit easier to manage. You can now ask the AI (or other players) to join wars, and use any of the Cassus Belli options (reasons for declaring war) when declaring a Joint War.

The update also adds a dozen new Historic Moments, which was a new feature added in the Rise and Fall expansion. Historic Moments are like mini-achievements that chronicle your nation’s history over the course of a game. The new Moments are listed below:

  • First Shipwreck Excavated (+2 Era score)
  • World’s First Shipwreck Excavated (+3 Era score)
  • First Aerodrome Fully Developed with all buildings (+3 Era score)
  • First Encampment Fully Developed with all buildings (+3 Era score)
  • First Entertainment Complex Fully Developed with all buildings (+3 Era score)
  • First Water Park Fully Developed with all buildings (+3 Era score)
  • First City with 25 Population (+1 Era score)
  • World’s First City with 25 Population (+2 Era score)
  • First Seaside Resort (+2 Era score)
  • World’s First Seaside Resort (+3 Era score)
  • National Park Founded (+3 Era score)
  • World’s First National Park Founded (+4 Era score)

The many balance changes and tweaks are far too numerous to copy here, including a buff to England and more Turtle resources on a map. You can read all the patch note details on the official Civilization website.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI launched in Fall 2016, with the Rise and Fall expansion dropping earlier this year. Civilization VI has also been recently ported to iPad in all its entirety. Note that DLC packs are still being added to the mobile version. The Rise and Fall expansion is currently only available on PC/Mac.
