With their own PlayStation VR device launching this October, Sony had a number of high-profile franchises making the leap to virtual reality. Sony showed off several trailers and gameplay videos during their PlayStation E3 press conference. Notable upcoming PlayStation VR releases are Farpoint, Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, Batman Arkham VR, and Final Fantasy XV VR Experience.

Farpoint (trailer above), developed by newcomer Impulse Gear, was officially announced at the conference. It’s set on a hostile alien planet after an anomaly transports you and the scientists you’re charged to protect to an unknown world. It honestly looked like one of the more exciting, story-driven, and original VR games I’d seen yet.

The other three trailers were clearly VR spin-offs of their main games. X-Wing VR Mission channels the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter flight games, putting you in the pilot’s seat of the Rebellion’s signature ship. Batman Arkham VR didn’t show any actual gameplay. Apparently it’s more of a murder mystery, using the Dark Knight’s superior detective skills. Final Fantasy’s VR game lets you play as Prompto, one of Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis’ friends. There’s also Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, which was also announced and given the full VR treatment.

All of these exclusive VR modes are included in the PlayStation 4 version of the games and are set to be released this Fall. No release date was given for stand-alone adventure Farpoint.
