Story & Themes
Yo-Kai Watch begins with the protagonist (either named Katie or Nate depending on player choice) stumbling upon a Yo-Kai butler, Whisper, in the forest. Yo-Kai are ghostly, spirit-like beings that embody certain emotions or states of being such as stubbornness or risk-taking. After the protagonist befriends Whisper, they are given a watch which allows them to see and locate other Yo-Kai. A Yo-Kai that trusts and bonds with the protagonist will give them a special medallion, and players can use these medallion to summon the Yo-Kai whenever they like. The main thrust of the game is centered around travelling Springdale, helping people and Yo-Kai alike.
Difficulty
The game includes some tutorials, though players shouldn't have too much trouble with things like combat. Travelling through the city without getting lost, however, can prove a bit more of a challenge.
