Story & Themes
The player is a pilot, trained to operate giant mechs known as Titans. Titans are a limited resource, though, so chances are you will spend a decent amount of time without your Titan, using typical FPS weapons like assault rifles and shotguns. The game's somewhat unique freerunning system will also keep you entertained while outside your Titan, allowing you to run on walls and generally use the map as your jungle gym. You will engage in classic FPS game modes such as Capture the Flag, Last Titan Standing, and Attrition (which is basically Team Deathmatch with a little twist: you get a small amount of points for killing NPCs). Long story short, this is Call of Duty with giant robots.

While Titanfall is multiplayer versus matches only, there is a story mode that pits two factions of players against each other on various maps and in a variety of game modes. Sometime in the relatively near future, humans have colonized the stars. On the frontier of human colonization of space, there are two major factions. The IMC is a large corporation which made all of its' money in mining operations. Now they are a robotics company which manufactures the titular Titans as well as autonomous robotic soldiers and other weapons, putting them in control of a veritable army. The Militia, made up of those who live on the frontier, opposes the IMC for the way that they mistreat the citizens of the frontier whenever they stand to make a profit from it. One day, while fighting the IMC for resources, the Militia encounters a man who says he knows how to take down the IMC. They work with him in an effort to cripple the IMC's operations on the frontier, while the IMC tries to stop them.
Save Points
Since it's a multiplayer only shooter, there isn't really any saving to be done. If you're in the middle of a match, obviously you aren't going to be pausing, saving, and quitting until the last shots have been fired.
Difficulty
You have to play in a team of six, and it takes a while to learn how to play the game.
Heads Up!
Violence Titanfall is just about as violent as any other FPS on the market. The objective of this game is, basically, to kill other human beings.
Scary Imagery There are some alien monsters on one map, including giant brontosaurus-like creatures that don't enter the map, and flying dragon-like creatures that will pester the player from time to time. As far as M rated games go, it's not too bad.
Strong Language There are several instances of the F word and s*it. This is a multiplayer-only FPS though, so anyone playing it should expect to be exposed to plenty of strong language anyway.
Online Community
You have to play online with a group of six, and there is objectionable chat and no filters or moderators.
