Story & Themes

This War of Mine is all about war. You play as a civilian just trying to survive in a war zone. The game is based on the 1992 siege of Sarajevo.

The game has the player exploring issues such as: How will you find food and water? How will you survive when snipers keep you inside during the day? What are you willing to do in order to survive?

The game requires the player to "make life or death decisions driven by your conscience."

Difficulty

Although the game is essentially a 2D resource-management and survival game, it's very difficult to play because unpredictable events can happen at any time (as in a real war) to destroy your progress.

Violence The art style and 2D gameplay are not hyper realistic, but there is a threat of constant violence and death.

Scary Imagery Frightening situations abound in this game.

Sex & Nudity Situations like soldiers assaulting women do occur in the game.

Substance Use Cigarettes and alcohol are used as resources for characters to use and trade.
