Story & Themes
The evil Ganondorf is attempting to collect three sacred spiritual stones in order to gain access to the Sacred Realm and steal the Triforce. Once he has it, he can take over the kingdom of Hyrule. Determined to outsmart him, the Princess Zelda and a young boy named Link go on a mission to collect the stones first.
Unfortunately, once they have the stones, Ganondorf uses the kids to his advantage, and they unwittingly allow him to waltz into the Sacred Realm and steal the Triforce. Zelda is rescued by her caretaker Impa, and Link is put into a magical slumber for seven years.
Now an adult, Link must find and rescue six sacred sages who, when working together, can take down the evil Ganondorf. The player may go back and forth in time at will between Child Link and Adult Link, sometimes altering the future by performing actions in the past.
Save Points
Ocarina of Time 3D can be saved at any time from the start screen menu. However, if a player is partway through a minigame or a dungeon, they may lose some of their progress.
Difficulty
Ocarina of Time 3D can be pretty tricky for beginners. However, the game's relatively open world is fun to explore for all skill levels.
Heads Up!
Violence There is a fair amount of fighting in this game. Link uses swords, boomerangs, bombs, and arrows to defeat monsters. There is a very small amount of blood splatter in one or two boss battles, however the game is very light on gore overall. Defeated enemies either fade away or vanish in puffs of smoke.
Scary Imagery A few of the bad guys in Ocarina of Time 3D might be scary for young children. Zombie-like enemies called Re-deads will sometimes leap onto Link and drain his life slowly. Severed hands and spiders also make appearances. None of it is too realistically-animated, though.
Sex & Nudity The Great Fairies, who grant Link special abilities, are scantily dressed. The Gerudo thieves have exposed midriffs. That's about it.
Discrimination Ocarina of Time 3D relies on the Damsel in Distress trope for the game's final battle. However, it does feature a number of female secondary characters with engaging personalities. There are very few background characters with dark skin.
