Story & Themes
In The Last Guardian, the story is narrated by an older man who is reflecting on his past experiences. He tells the story of how, as a boy, he was kidnapped and taken to a castle called the Nest. Once there, he encounters a large, griffin-like creature known as Trico. The boy frees Trico from his restraints, gradually earning the creature's trust, and the two venture onward to escape the mysterious castle. Their burgeoning friendship is the focal point of the narrative and the driving force behind the game.
