Project Spark isn’t exactly a game; it’s world builder, an environment, and a set of tools for making games. However, within Project Spark you can play several games—both games made by Microsoft’s Team Dakota and games made by the community—and you can upload your own games. You can also remix games made by others.

Story & Themes
The basic story is that there's a Creation Well where Sparks live, and a Void where a virus lives. The virus threatens to destroy the world, so a Spark leaves the Creation Well in order to fight it. In Champions Quest: Void Storm, the Team Dakota game included in the Starter Pack, you play as a team of Champions who are fighting the virus and its minions. Your goals are to protect and repair the world.

Difficulty
It's fairly difficult to figure out how to make a game from the ground up. It's a little easier to modify (remix) the games that others have already created. And if you just want to play games within Project Spark and if you're familiar with quest-based roleplaying games, the games included in the basic starter package are fairly easy to play. The games created by the community can range from easy and simple to very difficult.
Heads Up!
Violence The main Team Dakota game included in Project Spark, Champions Quest: Void Storm, contains fantasy violence. Your Champions use swords, axes, and bows to fight ogres, guards, and other enemies. Dying consists of fading away in a wisp of smoke. Community-created content is supposed to comply with E10+ standards. However, parents might have to change a setting if they want to make sure their kids can get access only to moderated content.
Scary Imagery The main Team Dakota game included in Project Spark, Champions Quest: Void Storm, does not contain very scary content. The online community is large and creative, uploading lots of new games they've made in Project Spark every day. There's a Twitch TV channel just for Project Spark and active forums with helpful advice.
