Story & Themes
Rather than a typical human Pokémon trainer, Pokopia puts players in the role of a Ditto, an amorphous, blob-like Pokémon who adapts the form of a human. The distinction is important, as Ditto is able to learn other Pokémon moves, such as Squirtle's Water Gun, to interact with the world.
The world of Pokopia is devoid of humans, but not of Pokémon. But Pokémon only arrive if their appropriate habitats are built. A habitat can be as simple as four tall grass, and as complex as multiple advanced furniture items and electronic devices.
Players can freely terraform their blocky world, Minecraft-style, as they attract new Pokémon. Each Pokémon has different abilities and traits, and many can help perform various tasks, such as refining materials, generating power, or growing crops. Pokémon can also offer their own quests and items.
The overall goal is to increase the Environment Level of each biome by attracting new Pokémon and giving them nice homes and ares to live in, while players unlock new crafting recipes and items to restore buildings, create new structures, and decorate each area as they like.
Save Points
Pokopia autosaves frequently, and players can select Save and Quit at any time.
Online Community
Pokopia features limited multiplayer for local and online play. Players cannot advance the main story while playing multiplayer, but can build together in the designated multiplayer zone, Palette Town. Pokopia also supports GameShare, meaning only one copy of the game is required when joining the host's game in multiplayer.
