Planet Coaster is a theme park simulator, and a spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon. Players build and manage theme parks through various game modes, including a Career mode where players take over half-built parks and complete a series of objectives. In Challenge and Sandbox modes, players are free to build their own parks from the ground up (Sandbox mode eliminates the need for money and research).
As theme park managers, players are responsible for building every aspect of the park, from walkways and souvenir stands to constructing custom roller coasters (or using prebuilt blueprints) using real-world physics. Players must also manage prices and budgets, and hire and maintain staff while researching new rides and technologies.
Planet Coaster autosaves, and players can save the game at any time.
Planet Coaster's difficulty largely depends on the gameplay mode. Career mode teaches the game by introducing different concepts and systems, while becoming more challenging later on. Sandbox mode is completely freeform, while Challenge mode requires the player manage their budget while building a park from scratch.
Violence People can get thrown from badly constructed rides, but they don't suffer any injuries, and get back up right away.
