Story & Themes
The Order 1886 is set in Victorian-era London, but in a slightly fantastical alternate universe version of Victorian-era London. There are, for instance, werewolves (called Lycans), and the player character is part of an order descended from the original Knights of the Round Table. Some of these knights have taken names passed down through the years (the player character is Sir Galahad), while others are actually quite old, their youth preserved via a special potion called Blackwater.

The Order is tasked with fighting half-man half-animal creatures who have been at war with humans since the 6th century. The Industrial Revolution allowed humans to gain the upper hand, building cities that were safe from the Half-Breeds, but those cities--London among them--have begun to grow, and the Order is spread thin. The lower class in London is revolting because of this. Furthermore, some in the Order have also begun to question their role as the protectors of their wealthy benefactors.

When the rebellion allies itself with the Half-Breeds, the Order finds itself in a difficult position.
Heads Up!
Violence The Order 1886 is intensely violent. Players will use a variety of guns (some realistic, some less so) to kill human and werewolf enemies. There is plenty of blood, gore, and dismemberment involved. There is violence present in cut scenes, as well--including torture and murder of unarmed people.
Scary Imagery This is not a horror game, but the setting is dark and the enemies are somewhat monstrous.
Sex & Nudity One part of the game is set in a brothel where topless women are present. There is also an implied sexual act, and one instance of male genitalia.
Strong Language Strong language is present, but used infrequently.
Conversation Starters
- Did it feel right to fight against the rebels? Did you ever agree with them?
- There are quite a few instances in which you have to kill allegedly innocent people in order to meet your goal in the game. Did this make you see the protagonist differently? Was it out-of-character for him to do this?
