Story & Themes
In NHL 17, players can immerse themselves in the game of ice hockey from several different perspectives. For instance, players can experience the game as a real-life athlete of the sport, or work their way up from the bottom as a custom-made character in NHL 17's "Be a Pro" mode. The "World Cup of Hockey" mode, on the other hand, has players taking control of an entire team and guiding it through the World Cup to victory.
Alternatively, the game's "Franchise" mode simulates the day-to-day experiences of being the general manager of a team. As the manager, players are encouraged to micromanage the finer details, all while trying to keep the owner, their boss, happy.

Difficulty
NHL 17 has multiple difficulty modes and a tutorial system that includes onscreen prompts, hints in the commentary dialogue, and a grading system that gives players feedback on their offensive and defensive strategies. Between these different features, new players shouldn't have too much trouble getting into the game.

Violence In the true spirit of hockey, NHL 17 allows players to pick fights with their opponents. However, the most they can really do is throw a few punches before the fight is broken up.
