Story & Themes
New Super Mario Bros. Wii has a simple storyline. The game begins during Princess Peach's birthday celebration at her castle. A giant cake arrives, and from it bursts Bowser and Co. They trap Peach inside the cake, stealing her away and loading her onto Bowser's airship. Mario, Luigi, and the Toads give chase, travelling through many worlds in their effort to rescue the princess.
Save Points
The game can be quick saved while on the map screen (not in the middle of a level). Also, the game saves after a boss is beaten.
Difficulty
The game's controls are simple and easy to master. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is definitely family-friendly.

Violence Violence in the game is of the usual Mario variety. Players can defeat enemies by jumping on their heads or using a special ability.
Consumerism New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a part of the massive Mario Bros. franchise, so some consumerism is implicit. However, there are not any microtransactions or the like in the game.
Discrimination Princess Peach in New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a prime example of the damsel in distress trope. She exists solely to be saved, and plays no larger part in the story.
