Story & Themes
The game opens with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and other members of the Mushroom Kingdom headed to a land known as Pi'illo Island for vacation. When the exhausted Luigi takes a nap, the group realizes that Luigi can connect with the Dream World. Princess Peach is sucked into Luigi's dream. When Mario enters the dream to rescue her, she is carried away by Antasma, a creature of nightmares. Inside the dream, Mario meets Dream Luigi and Prince Dreambert, the leader of the Pi'illos.

Dreambert explains that Antasma had fought against the Pi'illo people and trapped them all in chunks of nightmare. As they try to rescue Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi travel across the island freeing the trapped Pi'illos. Dream Luigi develops more special abilities within the Dream World.

Eventually, Mario and Luigi battle their way to Antasma. Bowser arrives and teams up with Antasma to fight against the two brothers. With the help of Peach, Dreambert, and their other friends, Mario and Luigi finally defeat Antasma and Bowser. With the two evildoers gone, peace returns to Pi'illo Island.
Save Points
Players can save at any time they are not in Dream World sections of the game using the menu system. They can also save by hitting special Save Blocks that are scattered throughout the world.
Difficulty
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is fairly easy to play. The 2D platforming puzzles inside the dream world aren't difficult to figure out, and each new addition to gameplay accompanied by a lengthy in-game tutorial to ensure players understand what to do.

If Mario and Luigi both fall during battle, the game gives players the option to try the battle again on Easy Mode. Players will unlock an additional Hard Mode after completing the main storyline.
Heads Up!
Violence Mario and Luigi battle different enemies using a combination of their signature jumping attacks, hammers, and attacking in tandem with one another. Most impacts are accompanied by cartoon-style dust and stars.
Discrimination Princess Peach, one of the few female characters in the game, is kidnapped early on and depicted as fairly helpless during most of her scenes. Most of Mario and Luigi's quests revolve around keeping her out of harm's way.

- Mario and Luigi are twin brothers, but Mario gets most of the attention and fame. In this game, however, Luigi receives more of the superpowers.
