Story & Themes
Mario Kart 7 is a simple and sweet racing game without any story to speak of. Players can choose from a collection of sixteen Mario characters and then test their skills on the game's numerous tracks. For those who want more of a challenge, the Grand Prix mode has players racing against other computer-controlled contenders for the gold trophy, and Time Trial tests the player's ability to complete a track as quickly as possible. Coin Runners and Balloon Battle modes offer additional variety, and players will race to see who can collect the most coins or pop the greatest amount of their opponents' balloons within a two minute time limit.
Save Points
The game can be saved after each race or group of races if the player is participating in a cup or Grand Prix.
Difficulty
Mario Kart 7, like any of the Mario Kart games, is extremely easy to play. Winning may not be as simple, but with enough practice nearly any player should be able to master the game.
Heads Up!
Violence Players can sabotage their opponents by blasting them with bombs or throwing shells at them. These "attacks" will upset the other character's kart, but they don't do any actual damage.
Consumerism Because it belongs to the extensive Mario franchise, the game encourages the consumption of various types of media and action figures.
Online Community
Players can join up to seven others in online multiplayer. Nintendo's safety and security features are pretty stringent and should protect younger players from any inappropriate content.
