Story & Themes
Let Them Trade is a medieval city builder and resource management sim. Players work for a hilariously pompous king in a series of small-ish, hex-grid maps, where they build and expand cities, research upgrades, and gather and trade resources.
By using certain upgrades, resource tiles, and buildings, cities can gather resources, automatically trading them with one another. Players can buy and store resources at the castle, while resource availability affects supply. Peasants require basic resources, while luxury resources provide extra happiness and income. The game grows in complexity as players progress through the campaign, unlocking additional buildings, resources, upgrades.
Players must also manage light combat and exploration systems, using knights, bolstering them soldiers, and sending them to scout new areas, and thwart bandits.
Let Them Trade provides basic foundations of economy and trade on a relatively small scale, focusing on supply and demand. The low-polygonal art style of the world mixed with rich portrait art for town leaders (and the king) is a nice selling point.
Heads Up!
Violence Bandits will raid supply lines and wagons, prompting players to send Knights to defend them. Clashes between tiny medieval soldiers are reminiscent of the Civilization series, with minimal violence.
