Story & Themes
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 follows the storyline of the first four films fairly closely, adding in silly moments and playing up the humor. Harry Potter, an eleven-year-old boy living in England with his aunt, uncle, and cousin is unexpectedly introduced to the underground world of magic when he's informed that he is a wizard. Harry has been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he makes friends, learns how to use magic, and uncovers dark secrets about his past. Major themes, which admittedly are watered down in Lego's adaptation, include friendship, love, bravery, and the triumph of good over evil.

Because the finer points of the story are often lost in translation, it is recommended that players have some familiarity with either the Harry Potter books or films before trying the game.

Representation Lego Harry Potter is as inclusive as the original book series, which is fairly good. Characters of different races, genders, and sexualities are present, though the three main protagonists are straight and white.
Save Points
Saving occurs automatically at the end of each mission/section.
Difficulty
Like all Lego games, Harry Potter is completely accessible for young kids. However, that doesn't mean that adults can't enjoy its quirkiness and fun equally as much.
Heads Up!
Violence The characters will fight using magic, but it's very mild. Upon dying, characters fall apart into Lego pieces.
Scary Imagery The game contains traditionally scary creatures like spiders, dragons, and monsters, but in Lego form they are much less intimidating.
Strong Language A handful of bathroom jokes appear throughout.
Consumerism The Lego games feed into a sizable franchise, and there's a decent chance that kids will want to buy the Lego sets based off of Harry Potter: Years 1-4.
