Story & Themes
Just Dance Decades of Hits is a rhythm dancing game that uses a free phone app (or Joy-Con controllers) to track movement. Through several dozen songs, players follow on-screen coaches and movement prompts to dance along to choreographed songs from popular artists.
Decades of Hits pulls its musical library from across five different decades, with five or six songs per decade. Songs include "Mamma Mia," "Jump," "Wannabe," "Bye Bye Bye" "Hot to Go," and "NUEAVAYOL." The music selection offers a nice variety of classic oldies and modern hits, mostly pop music, with some rock and hip-hop sprinkled in.
The game supports up to six players, and many songs feature two or more coaches, offering slightly different, and synchronized dance routines.
Players can explore each decade through the all-new, story-based Adventure mode, which puts the musical aficionado Lyra on a search for her father across time. Adventure mode also includes some fun trivia and quizzes on each time period.
Just Dance 2023 and later's full library of music are accessible through the main menu for owners (and can be purchased). Additional music packs, and the Just Dance+ subscription service, also offer additional songs.
Difficulty
Each song has four different difficulty ratings, from Easy to Extreme. Some songs have optional Extreme versions, and some have coaches with easier dance patterns. Additionally, Party Mode can be played on three different difficulty levels, requiring higher levels of accuracy for each song.
