Story & Themes
The game begins when spunky adventurer Ittle Dew and her sardonic companion Tippsie are raft-wrecked on the shore of a strange and foreboding island. They soon meet a carver named Itan who agrees to make them a new raft…for a price. First they must raid the castle and bring him back a special artifact.
Ittle proceeds to the local castle, where she solves puzzles to earn money, which she can use to access different areas where weapons are hidden. There are only three weapons in the game (making it very inventory-light compared to similar adventure titles): a firey sword, a warp wand, and an ice wand. The game can be completed using only one weapon, but if you want to explore all the game has to offer, you’ll need to collect the set.
Ittle is sassy and quick-witted and takes pleasure in beating bad guys, stealing gold, and running around barefoot. Tippsie provides useful hints and has a dry and sarcastic sense of humor. Both characters make meta references to the game and game developers at some point during the story.
When Ittle loses her health hearts, she is animated fainting, and the player is brought back to the entrance of the area. Usually, this loses almost no progress for the player.
- Why aren't more adventure games about girls?
- Why was it funny when the characters broke the fourth wall?
- Why do you think Jenny Fox was so angry?
- Is it ever okay to steal?
