The fifth game in the Nikki series is a free-to-play, open world adventure inspired by Genshin Impact and Breath of the Wild. As Nikki, players explore the world of Miraland with her feline companion, in the hopes of rescuing the god of wishes. The world of Miraland is much more utopian and idealistic than many open world video games. For example, the different nations settle their differences through dress-up fashion battles.
That being said, the story and themes earn the T-rating, and the interesting impact of a world where wishes come true (and a god that may have been killed).
Instead of collecting weapons or characters, as with most gacha games, Nikki earns, collects, and crafts outfits and articles of clothing. Many outfits feature special abilities that interact with the world, such as floating in the air, or catching bugs Animal Crossing-style.
Although combat is included, it's very basic and easy. Most of the gameplay is focused on exploration, 3D platforming challenges, puzzles, and mini-games. Completing various activities and tasks earns various rewards and in-game currency, giving players more chances to unlock and craft fancier dresses and outfits.
As a gacha game, players can also spend real money on "pulls," which are chances to receive the very rare dresses that are available for limited times.
Has an online-only game, Infinity Nikki requires an internet connection, and constantly saves the player's progress.
For an open world adventure, Infinity Nikki is extremely easy to play. Combat is few and far between, and mostly consists of spamming a single attack option that auto-targets enemies. Gameplay is focused more on exploration, platforming, and puzzles. The 3D navigation can be challenging for younger gamers.
Violence Mild fantasy violence.
Consumerism Gacha games use random pulls to earn many outfits and clothing pieces. Players can earn these pulls through in-game activities, quests, and tasks. Pulls can also be purchased with real-money. The 5-star outfit for each banner is guaranteed after a certain number of pulls. The full game can be completed without engaging with the gacha system.
