In Between

In Between tells the story of a man with a terminal illness struggling to come to terms with his own mortality. The levels of the game follow his emotional stages of grief, each one representing one of the five traditional milestones or obstacles that a person in mourning much reach or overcome. For instance, in the level inspired by anger, players can be killed by pulsating red orbs rather easily, and the difficulty of traversing the level will likely induce feelings of frustration similar to those the protagonist is experiencing. The game relies on devices like this to immerse players in the dying man's mind and evoke a deep sense of empathy, all while telling the story of his life.

In Between's puzzles gradually become more difficult as the game progresses. The challenge level isn't impossible, but it may be too difficult for players who want a more casual experience.
