Story & Themes
In Guitar Hero Live, players perform as the guitarist in a band during various concerts. Unlike Rock Band's Career modes, that of Guitar Hero Live is less concerned with leading players through a rise-to-fame journey and instead places them in a band that is already successful and able to draw a crowd. In this mode, players will be able to get a sense of the full experience that begins before they ever get on stage and continues in between songs. Each set of songs that can be played in this mode will have to be unlocked by completing those prior to it with a high enough level of proficiency.
The game can definitely be tricky, especially when playing on advanced settings. However, the four different difficulty levels should allow for a range in the degree of challenge offered.
Sex & Nudity Sexual innuendo will occasionally appear in song lyrics.
Strong Language The worst instances of strong language have been censored out of the lyrics, but some swearing is still included in certain songs.
Substance Use Some of the song's lyrics contain references to drug or alcohol use.
Consumerism The game includes microtransactions to expand song options.
One of the game's modes, Guitar Hero TV, is online and lets players compete against each other for a high score.
- What do you think of the fret layout? Does it feel like you're playing an actual guitar? Do you think any of the skills that you pick up in the game could translate to playing a real instrument?
- Do you like the game's system for acquiring additional songs? Why/why not?
