Green Day: Rock Band lets players follow along to rock songs by simulating the songs' performance on their controllers. Singers must try to match the pitch and timing of the original vocals.
Story only enters the game when playing in "career" mode. In this mode, players take on the role of a member of Green Day. Playing gigs and completing challenges earns the band more fame, money, and unlockable rewards such as photographs or videos.
